Dear Friends,

Education is all about creating a sound mind within a sound body, encompassing the all-round development of an individual. Education shouldn’t be equated to academic excellence alone as success is nothing but an illusion of the mind that tells us that we have reached our goals relative to our surroundings.

Not everyone will turn out to be an Einstein or a Newton. As parents and teachers one must set realistic goals for children. This assumes greater significance in today’s milieu where academic success is the only yardstick to measure the success of a child, which is very unfair. While formal education is important, stress should be laid on developing intrinsic values and character-building also. We must celebrate and appreciate even the smallest achievement of a child .Appreciation is an awareness of how special, how lucky, how unique, how blessed, how big, wonderful or awesome something is. The greatest gift that one can give a child is the art of appreciation.

In the words of Albert Schweitzer, Sometimes our light goes out, but is blown again into flame by an encounter with another human being. Each of us owes the deepest thanks to those who have rekindled this inner light.”
